To all relevant associations:
In order to study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, promote the construction and development of the national fertility support system, safeguard the reproductive health of women of childbearing age, and fully mobilize the enthusiasm and creativity of colleagues in reproductive medicine, the National Clinical Research Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology Diseases of Peking University Third Hospital officially established the Zhang Lizhu Reproductive Medicine Youth Innovation Award in 2022, to commend medical workers who have achieved major scientific and technological breakthroughs and made outstanding contributions in the field of reproductive medicine.
To encourage original innovation in frontier science and technology for fertility preservation, fertility-supporting diagnosis and treatment techniques and strategies, and public health reproductive care, promote the development of science and technology in reproductive medicine, and improve people’s reproductive health, the second session (2023) of the Zhang Lizhu Reproductive Medicine Youth Innovation Award recommendation work is hereby launched. The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:
I. Award Scope, Categories, and Quotas
(1) Scope and Eligibility
Applicants must be citizens of the People’s Republic of China, under 45 years of age (born on or after January 1, 1978), and engaged in full-time work in mainland China or Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan (postdoctoral fellows must have completed at least one year in station).
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
1. Love the motherland, possess the pragmatic scientific spirit of “dedication, innovation, seeking truth, and collaboration” and the new era spirit of “self-respect, self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-strengthening,” and maintain academic integrity.
2. Have achieved breakthrough, important, or significant progress in clinical, basic, public health, or translational research in reproductive medicine; possess academic achievements at the international or domestic advanced level that are widely recognized and cited, or have made important impacts on economic development and social progress.
(2) Award Categories and Quotas
1. First Prize: 1 recipient per session, RMB 30,000.
2. Second Prize: 3 recipients per session, RMB 10,000 each.
3. Third Prize: 6 recipients per session, RMB 5,000 each.
4. Excellence Award: 10 recipients per session, RMB 3,000 each.
II. Recommendation and Application Procedures
(1) Recommendation Channels
Candidates must be recommended by the following institutions or experts. Individual applications will not be accepted.
1. Medical and health institutions, universities, and research institutes;
2. Provincial-level or above medical associations, physician associations, and their specialized committees;
3. Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, chief scientists of national major scientific and technological programs, and other experts and scholars.
(2) Recommendation and Application Method
The principle of merit-based recommendation shall be implemented. Recommending institutions and candidates shall carefully prepare recommendation and application materials according to the requirements of the Zhang Lizhu Reproductive Medicine Youth Innovation Award.
1. During recommendation and application, the unified application form must be completed, accompanied by authentic and reliable evaluation materials; one copy of supporting documents such as major achievements and award certificates must be attached. The recommendation letter must be written and signed by the recommender.
2. Candidates recommended by medical institutions, universities, research institutes, provincial-level or above medical associations, physician associations, specialized committees, or experts and scholars shall submit materials directly to the evaluation office.
III. Evaluation Procedures
The evaluation office will invite renowned experts and scholars to form the Expert Review Committee of the Zhang Lizhu Reproductive Medicine Youth Innovation Award. The review committee will conduct evaluations in accordance with the principles of openness, fairness, and impartiality, propose award candidates and categories, and finally be confirmed by the National Clinical Research Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology Diseases of Peking University Third Hospital, which will issue certificates. After public announcement of the award list, an award ceremony will be held in March 2024.
1. Nomination Stage: Nominees must complete the application form (Appendix 1) by September 10, 2023. After confirmation and stamping by their institution, the electronic version and stamped scanned copy, together with the stamped employment certificate, shall be sent to the organizer’s contact email.
2. Mail Review Stage: From 00:00, September 11, 2023 to 00:00, October 31, 2023, the organizer will organize the mail review based on applicants’ submitted materials and select candidates for the defense stage.
3. Defense Stage: In early December 2023, the list of candidates, defense rules, and detailed information will be published on the official website of the National Clinical Research Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology Diseases of Peking University Third Hospital. Applicants must participate in the defense at the specified time, place, and method. Failure to participate will be deemed as waiver.
IV. Submission Requirements
Nominees must complete the application form (Appendix 1). After confirmation and stamping by their institution, the electronic version and stamped scanned copy, together with the stamped employment certificate, shall be submitted to the organizer’s contact email. The application form, attachments, and both paper and electronic materials must be provided.
All materials must be submitted completely, and the paper copies must be entirely consistent with the corresponding electronic files.
V. Application Deadline
All materials must be completed and submitted before 24:00, September 10, 2023. Please mail the paper materials to the Office of the National Clinical Research Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology Diseases of Peking University Third Hospital. Materials must be strictly mailed according to the address information. The mailing postmark date shall be used as the reference, and materials must be mailed by September 11, 2023. Late submissions will not be accepted.
