Personal Profile

Liu Ping, Chief Physician and Master's Supervisor at the Reproductive Medicine Center of Peking University Third Hospital. With nearly 40 years of experience in reproductive medicine, she served as a key developer, pioneer, and founder of groundbreaking technologies including mainland China's first IVF baby and first frozen-thawed embryo IVF. She has made outstanding contributions to the establishment, development, safe implementation, and quality control of assisted reproductive technologies in China. Completed the National Key RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT Program project “Establishment of a Standardized System for the Prevention and Treatment of Reproductive Diseases” as the principal investigator. The project conducted a nationwide cross-sectional survey on reproductive health among women of childbearing age across 15 provinces/municipalities, completing 13,508 questionnaires along with physical examinations and gynecological ultrasounds. Blood samples were collected from 10,710 participants to establish a biobank. Through hormonal measurements, the study determined the distribution of AMH levels across different age groups among reproductive-age women in mainland China, establishing 'normal' reference ranges and documenting variations in thyroid-related hormone levels. Epidemiological questionnaire results revealed key data during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (including basic reproductive health indicators, common reproductive disorders, infertility rates, and fertility intentions among women of childbearing age) against the backdrop of China's evolving population growth and demographic structure. This survey continued the investigation on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) initiated during the 11th Five-Year Plan period. It concluded that PCOS incidence has risen over the past decade and identified changes in disease characteristics, providing evidence for the formulation and adjustment of national health policies. Served as Vice Chairperson of the Reproductive Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Deputy Leader of the Laboratory Working Group, and Member of the Clinical Working Group. Recipient of numerous scientific awards, including:

- Two Second Prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award

- One First Prize of the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award

- One Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award

- One Third Prize of the Ministry of Health Science and Technology Progress Award

- One First Prize of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award

Authored over 20 research papers, contributed to 4 academic monographs, and served as chief editor for 1 publication.
